As many of you may have heard, the Olympic Torch Routes have now been confirmed and we are delighted to say that one of our very own CAP Athletes Camilla Hadland (Rowing) has been given a confirmed place on the torch relay.
Although we do not know exact details of Camilla's position on the run, we do know that it will be between Birmingham and Coventry somewhere on Sunday 1st July.
We would be extremely grateful if you could keep the date in your diaries to come down and support the relay if at all possible!

Coventry and Warwickshire’s talented young athletes have been given valuable backing as they aspire to achieve their sporting ambitions. A group of 25 young sports stars from across Coventry and Warwickshire have been awarded a total of £13,000 to help them achieve their sporting ambitions. The bursaries were awarded during a special event at Coventry University’s Westwood Heath Sports Pavilion in Coventry.
CAP, now in its fourth year, is a bursary scheme co-ordinated by CSW Sport which provides support to talented athletes from across the sub-region. The bursaries are funded by Warwickshire County Council and Coventry City Council and are supported by the Coventry and Warwickshire Partnership for the 2012 Games and Coventry University. The funding is used by athletes to assist their development by covering some of the costs associated with their sports including coaching, equipment, travel and competition entry fees.
The athletes were presented with their awards by Leamington’s 100m hurdler and London 2012 hopeful Sara McGreavy, Carolyn Robbins and Mark Gore from Warwickshire County Council and Councillor John Mutton, leader of Coventry City Council. Among those recognised during the presentations were Coventry triathlete Sian Rainsley, Stratford rower Camilla Hadland, Warwick fencer Ellie Cormack, Rugby golfer Lauren Taylor and Nuneaton judo expert Kyle Sweet. Another winner was rhythmic gymnast Rachel Smith, 18, who attends Caludon Castle School and has aspirations of competing at London 2012.
Now in the third year of the CAP Programme (A Bursary Scheme for talented athletes) The programme provides support to talented athletes within Coventry and Warwickshire. This years scheme has received 69 applications from talented young sports people from across the area. Now in its second year, the CAP programme is a bursary scheme that provides support to talented athletes within Coventry and Warwickshire.
This years scheme has seen 24 athletes recieve CAP funding for 2009 to 2010. Due to extra funding being available from key local partners, it has allowed the CAP Bursary Scheme to support more talented athletes with in Coventry and Warwickshire over the forthcoming year. During 2008, over 80 applications were received from talented young sports people from across Warwickshire, and as a result, 14 budding sports stars who compete in a variety of sports from badminton to wheelchair basketball have been selected and are receiving funding through the programme.
The 14 successful applicants each received a grant from the three-tiered funding package available from the CAP scheme to aid their development during 2008/09.
