In order to create a step change in the structure of competitive sport for young people, the Youth Sport Trust is currently introducing a network of Competition Manager teams across the country. In total there will be 225 Competition Managers operational across the country by January 2009, covering 49 county areas and all 450 school sport partnerships.
Competition Managers will ensure that competitive sport is on offer at a local level within schools and that young people are trained and encouraged to take part in that sport. Vitally important to this role is also the work they’ll undertake to ensure there is a network of officials to referee, umpire and judge the sport that is on offer.
