Coundon Court FC – Sport Relief 2014
FA Charter Standard Community Club 'Dribbleathon'
Coundon Court FC is proud to be an FA Charter Standard Community Club in fact we are the first and only club in Coventry to achieve the ultimate accolade in the Football Association’s Charter Standard program.
The club which was formed in 2002 now boasts 17 teams. These include both boys and girls youth teams and for the first time this year an adult ladies team. But possibly more important than these teams and especially in lieu of our community club efforts, 2013/14 has seen the launch of a disability soccer coaching scheme right here at Coundon Court Football Club.
All the players from all our teams including ones from our disability squad (over 150 players) will be at Coundon Court School on Saturday March 22nd for an hour long “Dribbleathon” in order to raise money for Sport Relief.
As you may or may not know Coundon Court FC are keen supporters of Sport Relief and this year we hope to surpass the massive total of £4000 raised in 2012. Each player who raises money through simple sponsorship gets to keep 50% of the total they raise for their team while the other 50% goes into to Sport Relief.
The Sport Relief fundraising attempt will be an hour-long “dribbleathon” in which all the players and coaches in our club will attempt to dribble the ball 200 miles. The event is a type of relay, shown right, where players stand opposite each other taking turns to continuously dribble the ball from one end to the other.
The distance dribbled by all our teams will then be added up to get a Coundon Court FC total distance dribbled. In 2010 we managed 144 miles so this year we want to push on to 200. Dribble a football 200 miles in one hour! Raise £5000 Can we do it? Find out Saturday when we kick off our hour long “Dribbleathon” event at 2:00pm
