Sports organisations in Coventry, Solihull & Warwickshire are planning for growth and expansion of services, facilities and products available, as the Nation is encouraged to become more active.

Increased participation in sport and physical activity by children, young people and adults will lead to increased demand for sports & leisure opportunities. With this demand comes the need for an increase in a skilled, knowledgeable and competent workforce.

We need, therefore, to ensure that the sport and physical activity sector in Coventry, Solihull & Warwickshire has the right people in sport with the right skills, by continually raising our profile as a professional sector with initiatives to help up-skill the workforce, increase employability and encourage continuous professional development.

Education, Training & Skills:

Many organisations contribute to sport and physical activity in Coventry, Solihull & Warwickshire, sustaining a vibrant sporting infrastructure of clubs, coaches and volunteers, developing strong school - community links, engaging people of all ages in sport and physical activity and providing a platform for people to excel in sport.

The vibrant sporting infrastructure wouldn’t be possible without the skills and talents of the sporting workforce working across Coventry, Solihull & Warwickshire regularly involved in sport and physical activity. It is vital that the sector continues to invest in the quality of it’s sporting workforce to continue to perform and improve.

Workforce Development Strategy:

Coventry Solihull & Warwickshire Sport is currently working on creating a Workforce Development Strategy to be published in March 2007 to ensure that the sport and physical activity sector in Coventry, Solihull & Warwickshire has the right people in sport with the right skills, by continually raising our profile as a professional sector with initiatives to help up-skill the workforce, increase employability and encourage continuous professional development.
